Bulgarian and Japanese Wedding Traditions at the Four Seasons Seattle
Just around the corner from the iconic Pike Place Market, Amy and Kevin's elegant white celebration at the Four Seasons wove together Christian, Japanese and Bulgarian traditions.

Amy and Kevin met as undergraduates at the University of Michigan in 2017 and have been building a life together across cities ever since, including New York, Chicago (during Kevin's time at Rush Medical College) and Seattle (for his residency at the University of Washington). Along the way, they spent a summer teaching English and public speaking in Tokyo. By the time they married, they had a lot of world to pull from.
The wedding took place in the heart of downtown Seattle, a block from Pike Place, and the design reflected both the city and the couple. The day featured a soft white palette with roses and orchids woven throughout as nods to the bride's Bulgarian and Japanese roots. The ceremony honored both cultures as well, blending a Christian ceremony with a Japanese san-san-kudo tradition, and the Bulgarian horo dance made an appearance during the reception.
Amy designed a custom scarf as a guest favor, hand-drawn with Seattle-inspired icons, which guests twirled during the couple's grand entrance and exit. Tables were named after favorite restaurants spanning Tokyo to New York. Personalized letters were written to each guest at their seats. And in the evening's most surprising moment, Kevin arranged for ice cream from the campus shop where the two had their first date to be served to guests.
