Edible wedding favors are always a huge hit, but there’s no rule that says you have to wait until the party’s over to give them out. These sweet treats from local cookie whizzes whet your guests’ appetites while getting your party off to a scrumptious start.

Raspberry macarons from The SweetSide on Phinney Ridge are an elegant introduction to your reception meal. $2.50 each. Two-inch cubes filled with mini vanilla meringues are $4.50 each. Dress them up with calligraphed place-card flags by Seattle-based Hilwink Designs, $1.25 each.
2. SOUTHWEST FLAIR
“Edible place cards are a great way to elevate a simple table setting and add a unique detail that your guests are sure to remember,” says
Julia Omholt of Redmond-based Raining Cookies. She created these soft sugar cookies, which are embellished with edible gold flecks and three-dimensional royal icing succulents. Succulent place card cookies start at $6.50 per cookie.
3. SIMPLY SWEET
Dianne’s Delights in downtown Seattle whipped up classic vanilla sugar cookies with a sweet, soft frosting topped with sugar-paper labels printed with edible ink. Place-card cookies are $36 per dozen and can be packaged individually.
4. GARDEN VARIETY
Kayla Heffner of Lynnwood-based Seatown Sweets created sugar cookies decorated with buttercream flowers and sanding sugar to welcome guests to their seats. Custom cookies (shown here in a whimsical engagement ring design and a simple geometric shape) are $3 each.
