On Megan and Patrick's sparkle-filled wedding day at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, the bride followed the tradition of having something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. She wrapped her grandmother’s ruby bracelet around the stem of her bouquet, purchased a new dress, borrowed her mother’s diamond bracelet and wore a blue garter.
The groom is an officer in the U.S. Army, and he was deployed for the nine months leading up to the wedding, making it back just in time to say his vows. With all the groomsmen also being Army officers, the couple chose to include various aspects of a traditional military wedding in their celebration. The groomsmen wore their uniforms and gave the newlyweds a saber-arch salute at the start of the reception. As an extra-special touch, a ceremonial military sword was used to cut the cake.
