Wedding Date: May 3, 2019
The Pacific Northwest set the stage for love when Zoe Kunkel-Patterson, a kindergarten teacher from Seattle, met Geoff Taylor, a naval submarine officer stationed in Bremerton, Washington. Despite being a ferry ride away, sparks flew, and the two started dating and soon fell in love. With an upcoming move to Hawaii on the horizon, the couple planned their wedding focusing on the importance of a strong sense of place, and they knew they wanted to incorporate the Seattle side, the Kitsap Peninsula side and the ferry into their big day. After getting ready at Bainbridge Island’s Pleasant Inn, they took that nostalgic ferry ride to Seattle for first looks and a family-only ceremony at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse’s sunlit rooftop, overlooking classic Seattle views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. They took the sunset ferry back to the island for a reception dinner. The evening was a perfect pairing of a formal occasion, reflecting Geoff’s home of South Carolina, and soft and simple vibes, representing Zoe’s West Coast roots. The result was a marriage of classic yet contemporary design, featuring the bride’s simple and elegant dress and the groom’s tuxedo, blush- and cream-colored spring flowers, textured linens and modern paper goods with organic touches. Adding to that classic charm was a pair of pearl earrings, Geoff’s gift to his bride.
