Brought together from opposite ends of the country, Emily and Chase got to know each other while studying law in Chicago and began dating during their last year of school. Desiring an “elevated summer camp” vibe, the couple planned their woodsy wedding weekend amid the gorgeous backdrop of Captain Whidbey on Whidbey Island—one of their favorite places. The classic ceremony design emphasized the venue’s natural beauty through locally grown green-and-white floral arrangements and mismatched bridesmaid dresses. After exchanging their vows at the end of an aisle framed by towering trees, the newlyweds drove off in a navy blue 1963 Porsche 356 that Chase and his father had been restoring since Chase was in high school. The brightly colored outfits worn by his sisters during the ceremony foreshadowed the explosion of color that set apart the reception space. While the head table was wild with organic displays of greenery, each guest table was given its own color-blocked tablescape in soft yellow, pink, blue and lilac themes. From napkins to florals, menus to the dramatic water goblets, every piece of the table designs expertly brought Emily’s vision of monochromatic summer shades to life. Before heading to the checkered dance floor, the couple kickstarted their party with a bubbling Champagne tower and an assortment of pies from the island’s local bakery.
