Like so many couples, Maia Earle and Peter Brown’s wedding plans were planned, replanned and planned yet again in the wake of COVID-19. Initially, the couple arranged to have a family-style dinner for 120 guests at Smokey Wood Farm in Redmond. As their wedding date approached, however, it became apparent a new plan would be needed. A turbulent few weeks followed, in which the couple replanned their wedding two additional times in accordance to Washington state’s phased openings. “After having planned three weddings, I literally gave up,” said the bride. “Fortunately, with the amazing tenacity of my mom and several family members, and Peter and his chef friend handling the food, we were able to pull off a COVID-sanctioned Catholic Mass ceremony and a backyard reception at my mom’s house in Bellevue.” The result? An intimate gathering to celebrate everlasting love, despite a global pandemic.
