Family Ties: Woodland Wedding at Sodo Park

Real Wedding

THE COUPLE: The couple first met more than a decade before they wed when Chris Jones introduced himself to Erica Roeglin on her first day working at Costco. They soon became best friends, and after countless weekends spent together, started dating. Their daughter, Claire, was born in August 2014, adding to a family that already included beloved dog Walter Jones.

THE PROPOSAL: Chris proposed at the spot in Marymoor Park where the couple had their first date four years before. After a game of fetch, Erica spotted a ring tied to Walter Jones’ collar and found Chris on one knee. Walter also made a bow-tie-clad appearance in the wedding processional.

THE GOWN: Erica’s wedding-day ensemble included a gown by Australian designer Anna Campbell purchased at The Dress Theory—all with her daughter’s approval, of course. The excess lace from her dress was transformed into a wedding-day headband for baby Claire, who also sported glittery Stuart Weitzman shoes.

THE DECOR: West Seattle–based florist Fleurt covered Sodo Park with reclaimed wood, coral peonies and lush greenery to transform the industrial venue into a woodland-inspired wonderland for the spring ceremony. Beautiful calligraphy etched place cards, which were attached with clothespins to blush-hued hanging ribbons, cascaded to stunning effect near the entrance. The groom even managed to surprise his new wife with one of their favorite decor elements, a metal mailbox from BHLDN for guests to leave cards and notes in, slipping in his own letter promising to run a half-marathon with his bride—a big sacrifice, Erica explains.
