Homespun Charm: Country Wedding on Lake Chelan

Real Wedding

The Couple: Nicole Sullivan’s younger brother Ryan was best friends with Aaron McVay, an ironworker, for years before Aaron struck up a conversation with project administrator Nicole at a country music concert in 2012.

Country Cool: The groom’s only request was for red, white and blue to be incorporated into the country-inspired decor, so the bride added pink and blue Mason jars and mercury glass for a patriotic touch on each table. Wooden chargers and handmade name cards, plus the couple’s hot dog cart, gave the event a homespun feel, with the addition of outdoor chandeliers and glittery linens on the head table, balancing the lakeside gathering with a touch of glitz.

Puppy Love: When the pair found out their chocolate Lab, Bear, wasn’t allowed at the venue, they developed a workaround. “Bear is like our child,” Nicole said. “We couldn’t imagine getting married without him there.” So, they made a life-size cardboard cutout of Bear to greet guests—which ended up making it onto the dance floor and into (quite a few) photos.
