Ceremony and reception:
Flying Horseshoe Ranch
Wedding planner Megan Keller, 29, owner of A Kurant Event, and technology startup founder Aaron Bird, 35, wanted an intimate wedding weekend in a rustic Northwest setting. With its lush grounds and rustic charm, Cle Elum’s Flying Horseshoe Ranch, a children’s summer camp turned guest ranch and event facility, was perfect. The bucolic venue inspired the wedding’s laid-back ranch theme, brought to life with cowhide accents, cowgirl boots and even a mechanical bull. The consummate hosts know how to throw a party (human-size hamster balls as entertainment and a rousing game of flip cup), but they left key elements, such as the cake and the flowers, to be day-of surprises for the sake of a stress-free planning experience. The couple agrees that trusting and leaning on their vendors resulted in wedding details that far exceeded their expectations and let them savor the moment with friends and family.
