The Couple: Jessica Reely, a dancer, and Joseph Cantû, a musician, first met through the bride’s brother when he and Joe were students together at Western Washington University. At the time of the couple’s first “real” date, Jess was the dance captain on a Disney cruise ship, so Joe flew to the Bahamas to join her on board. “For a fully tattooed guy to book a solo ticket on a Disney cruise,” says Jess, “he must have really wanted to see me.”
The Design: Described as formal, black-tie and yet “very Seattle” by the couple, the chic, timeless black-and-white wedding with stark modern décor was softened by a movable floral backdrop of white roses, romantic filtered lighting, and a wall of glowing lanterns and flowers. The brick archways of their Pioneer Square venue captured the historic Seattle feel they were after, while a clean and modern “J+J” monogram graced everything from their invitations to the pingpong table (paddles and balls included!) set up in the alley outside.
Family Perk: The couple held a formal rehearsal brunch in the All-Star Club at Safeco Field, where Joe’s mom is a buyer. She had the grounds crew scrawl “Jess ♥ Joe” across the field, while snapshots of the couple displayed on the Jumbotron.
