Wedding Date: August 10, 2019
Lauren and Ben sought to make their wedding day just as much about their loved ones as it was about the two of them. With guests traveling from all over the country and abroad to attend, the couple realized how special and rare an opportunity it was to bring everyone together in the Pacific Northwest. The celebration was an intimate, family-focused affair that included the pyebaek, a traditional Korean wedding custom. The couple gave it a modern twist to reflect their Korean-American background: In what is typically a private ceremony between families, Lauren and Ben’s pyebaek was instead performed outdoors during the cocktail hour so that guests could share in the experience. After the wedding ceremony, the bride changed out of her white gown (which she and her sister helped to custom design) and into a traditional Korean costume called a hanbok, which also happened to be a family heirloom. The groom followed suit, donning complementary regalia for the ceremony.
