For Amy and Alex, fate had a hand in bringing them together. The pair had met several times, first in high school, then, in college, where they shared the same major. But it wasn’t until they matched on a dating app 10 years later that they finally clicked. The couple wanted their wedding to be a celebration of love and joy, with a little playfulness mixed in, and The Ruins, with its rich colors and eclectic charm, was the perfect venue for just that. For their first look, the soon-to-be newlyweds discovered they had each chosen a gown and jewelry that mirrored the other’s. Then, with a few happy tears over their sartorial serendipity, they slipped away for a private moment to exchange vows before their intimate ceremony among family and friends. For the reception, an over-the-top dining room, featuring hand-painted murals, opulent gilded accents and crystal chandeliers, awaited. Minimal décor allowed the whimsical space to shine, with simple taper candles casting a soft glow and a lush blend of peonies, roses, ranunculus, poppies and delphinium, along with greenery such as eucalyptus and seasonal foliage, offering a romantic garden-inspired vibe. The evening revelry began with—what else?—RuPaul’s “Supermodel (You Better Work)” and kept buzzing along with even more modern Pride anthems, honoring queer resilience and the freedom to love unapologetically and boldly. Guests put on their dancing shoes—as well as a few pairs of party-ready, heart-shaped sunglasses and raised cocktails named after the pair’s sweet pups. The evening glowed with the kind of joy that lingers long after the last song fades.
