Roaring '20s-Inspired Wedding at Ryan Lewis's Home

Real Wedding

If you were approached by the pop star duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and asked if you would like to marry your boyfriend LIVE at the 2014 Grammy’s during their performance with Madonna, what would you say? You say, “I do!” of course!

And that’s exactly how Laura Lewis, sister of world famous music producer Ryan Lewis, and her boyfriend Alex Irwin decided they were going to get married. The two had just welcomed their newborn son, Rory, into the world and decided that there was no better way to profess their love for each other than at a live wedding ceremony during the Grammy’s, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their hit song, “Same Love” with Mary Lambert and special guests Madonna and Queen Latifa. The couple ended up being part of the most influential and emotional moments in Grammy history.

Flash forward one and a half years later, to the intimate ceremony held at Ryan Lewis’s private home estate, where the wedded couple exchanged vows in front of close family and friends overlooking the Puget Sound at sunset. Laura wanted their Gatsby-themed ceremony and reception to be simple, elegant and low-key.

“I didn’t want it to be a big thing”, she remarked. “We were already technically married at the Grammy’s, so we wanted it to be more of a celebration of our love and commitment to one another.”

Laura planned the entire wedding herself, choosing to forgo the wedding coordinator, florist, caterer, etc. Instead, Laura enlisted the help of her family to help with of all the details.
