Sometimes all you need are some whimsical florals, a touch of traditional romance and a historic venue to introduce a European flair to your wedding day. The Lakewold Gardens in Lakewood, Washington, proved to be the perfect place to capture the romantic spring European wedding with its hauntingly beautiful flora and classic architecture.
“I wanted a relaxed mix of timeless romance with a touch of vintage charm-old-money elegance, but effortless and down-to-earth,” Rachael Brubaker of Leave it to Polly said, “Think European countryside meets local garden party.”
Leaning into the venue's natural beauty, the florals were kept sparse and unique, with anthuriums sprouting from moss saucers as tablescapes, interspersed with tea light votives. A show-stopping floral hanging installation hung beneath the domed pergola, adding a touch of natural whimsy to the stunning gardens.
In the picture of European romance, the bride was dressed in a corseted ball gown from Sarah Seven, with pearl-embellished tulle gloves for an added layer of femininity. The groom was dressed in a light-colored suit, with his boutonniere featuring a frayed ribbon that matched the peach-and-pink color scheme, adding a vintage touch to his look.
As a treat for guests, monogrammed edible cocktail toppers were added to the champagne coupes, along with velvet ribbons, creating both a fun treat and a memorable addition to the party. Thoughtfully pairing natural beauty with touches of traditionality and whimsy brought together a European-inspired wedding in the heart of Washington.
