When dreaming up this stunning soirée at Humano Studios in Seattle, a team of creatives went with what the Pacific Northwest is known for: clouds and rain. “Couples in Washington often worry about the Pacific Northwest weather cooperating on their wedding day,” says Kylie Hale of Kylie Hale Designs. “We wanted to reclaim the magic of moody weather and highlight the beauty of a rainy day.” And the result was spectacular: a masterpiece of inspired floral arrangements, textures and innovative design touches, from chic fashion to fluted-edged paper goods, fluffy confections and puffs of tulle.

Head in the Lavender Clouds is a MODERN wedding shoot designed as an ode to the Pacific Northwest SKIES. We captured the beauty of something our corner of the world is known for — the CLOUDS and their RAIN.

Clean place settings contribute a distinctly modern flair, with the white linens, plates and vases brightened by pops of color from the napkins, tapered candles and florals. A colorful floral installation floating over the reception table featured puffs of tulle, creating a playfully unique scene. The bride’s gown, “Eden” by Jane Hill, ups the ante with the addition of “Onda” organza sleeves by Hera Couture. Her look is finished with a fun updo and her handsome groom, who sports a smart Jos. A. Bank suit.
While you MIGHT expect a Pacific Northwest–inspired shoot to include dark, earthy tones, we opted for something more UNEXPECTED and chose retro-inspired elements both in the COLOR palette and the design details, giving a tastefully modern, WHIMSICAL style.

We created something fresh, something FUNKY yet modern and sophisticated, and included many new ELEMENTS that Washington Wedding Day readers can draw inspiration from. I mean, who wouldn’t want a COTTON CANDY wall at their reception?
