A winter wedding will be held on January 17, 2015 on Whidbey Island, Washington. Many details have been arranged. The invitations, the cake, the venue, the flowers, the photographer, and the musician, have all been selected. Even a professional wedding planner is standing by. There's just one thing missing: the couple.
To promote Whidbey Island as a winter wedding destination, Island industry professionals and tourism officials teamed up to donate a Winter Wedding Giveaway for one couple and 48 guests, worth over $15,000. The picturesque island is located 25 miles north of Seattle and 70 miles from the Canadian border.
Couples nominate themselves by submitting their story and photo by October 31, 2014 midnight PDT. The public votes to narrow the field to the top 10. From those finalists, one couple’s name will be randomly drawn at the Weddings on Whidbey and Events Tour on November 8. The first 100 couples who enter will receive one general admission ticket to attend the wedding tour. There is no cost to enter.
Everyone who votes may enter to win a two-night getaway on Whidbey Island. That winner will also be randomly selected and announced at the Weddings on Whidbey and Events Tour.
"It feels a little crazy for people, but in a good way. There is always some drama leading up to weddings, but we've already made most of the tough decisions for them and all that is left to do is personalize the wedding details," according to Gloria Mickunas, one of the contest's organizers.
