After two years of planning, dentist Rachel Krell had created quite the idea log for her August 2, 2014 wedding to landscape architect James Greene at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo; at the top of the wish list—an actual log. “I loved the idea of rustic wood chargers for our reception tables,” Rachel says of the trend that graced many a local wedding this year. “We really wanted to capture the feel of the Northwest for our Michigan-based family and friends.” After the couple had given up on the idea following a fruitless search on Craigslist and beyond, Mother Nature then interceded on their behalf. A windstorm knocked down several pine trees on a friend’s property, providing the raw materials for 160 freshly trimmed log circlets. Set out at each place setting, along with a menu card and a sprig of rosemary, the woodsy-chic chargers also perfumed the space with their fragrant pine scent.
