You Are My Sunshine : Nostalgic Highland Estates Wedding

Real Wedding

THE COUPLE: Tom and Lydia have a tremendous love for life, and life outdoors. They spend a great deal of their time hiking along the Columbia River Gorge, (which is how he proposed!) or stand up paddleboarding on Lacamas Lake.
The two also share a love for their Washington State University Cougars! With pops of crimson and gray found in both the bride and groom’s details, it was no surprise to hear the anthem shouted throughout their reception, “GO COUGS!”
THE DESIGN: The woods this venue sits on served as the inspiration for the color palette of this early fall wedding. Between the eucalyptus, fresh hops, grown and brought in by couple, and rainfall all around, everything was naturally beautiful.
FUN FAMILY FACTS: The bride co-owns a stand up paddleboard company with the groom’s mom. Sharing a love for all things PNW ties this family together in so many amazing ways --which brought a whole other sense of togetherness to the wedding day.
THE FOOD: The taco bar, catered by Herb n' Roots, was complimented by a fresh fillet caught by none other than the groom himself. Additionally, good beer was just as important as the food. And so, homegrown hops adorned their altar, centerpieces and even the men's boutonnieres.

From the Photographer: ''Tom and Lydia’s wedding was held on the rainiest, most lovely September day in the woods. These Cougs tied the knot as their favorite team made the game winning touchdown! It was a day full of cozy getting ready moments alongside the ones they love most & the most magical aisle that led them to “we do."

One of my fondest memories from the day was when Lydia quoted part of her favorite song to Tom during their vows : You Are My Sunshine. It was so perfectly fitting to epitomize the love that brightened everyone's smiles, even amongst the buckets of rain."
