Known for her one-of-a-kind, intimate ceremonies, the Reverend Mary Calhoun is now offering her expertise in another way, through her Devotions Course, a marriage preparation series to help couples lay a solid foundation for their journey ahead. Designed for today’s busy couples, the course can be completed without ever leaving home. “My intention for creating this series was to give couples celebrating their nuptials a strong launching pad as they become established married twosomes,” says Calhoun.
During the two- to three-week course, which costs $135, couples choose a topic to tackle from a list of 12 options, ranging from emotional awareness to financial intentions. When lessons for a chosen topic are completed, couples meet with Calhoun to discuss the results, either through video chat or in a meeting at her home. The light, humorous approach Calhoun takes, combined with writings and resources, has proven most successful for Seattle’s modern newlyweds-to-be.
