Leavenworth Wedding in the Woods

Real Wedding

After hunting for the perfect venue for weeks, this couple realized the dream location they were searching for was right in their own backyard (well, the bride's family's backyard, but you get the picture). With the awe-inducing Cascade Mountains as the backdrop, the bride and groom set to work creating a custom storybook woodland wedding. Filled with rustic, whimsical details, mostly curated by the couple and their families, this backyard wedding was nothing short of magical.

From the bride:

"My husband, Garrett, proposed to me on Valentine's Day 2015 at the Chihuly Glass Garden in Seattle. It was the perfect, most romantic proposal. We had dinner under the glass ceiling in the museum and just before dessert he took me outside to the gardens, under the Space Needle, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

Like any bride, I was so excited to plan our special day. The first step - a venue. Venue after venue came and went. Some beautiful, some worn down, some over done and some way over-priced. We wanted something custom, something original to who we are and what our adventure means. After weeks of venue hunting we decided there would be no better place than my family's cabin in Leavenworth.

Our theme was simple, a backyard wedding in the woods that was rustic and whismical. From the reclaimed painted desk that our vintage typewriter/guest book sat on, to the custom lit sign with our initials, and the invitations and logos I designed myself.  The custom details didn't stop there. We had to turn what was once a field with bushes and trees into a venue. My dad designed the bar and ceremony benches. We turned an old dresser into an outdoor sink complete with vanity lights and warm running water. Even the salmon we served for dinner was hand caught by my uncle. We held the ceremony right up against the Wenatchee River. It was a perfect fall day for a wedding in the woods."
