Ceremony and reception:
The Foundry by Herban Feast
Although she currently resides in Boston, bride and Kirkland native Anna Fenno, 30, calls the Pacific Northwest “home”—she went to college here and parents still live here. So when she and fiancé Dan Berglund, 30, decided to tie the knot, Seattle was the place to do it. (Dan, a vice president of equity derivatives at Goldman Sachs, is from Minnesota, and they also had a reception there.) The couple landed on The Foundry in SoDo as their venue, which, with its roughhewn wood beams and vestigial industrial touches from its former incarnation as a copper and steel foundry, was the perfect place to balance Anna’s eye for laidback elegance with Dan’s preference for a more rustic style. And since about two-thirds of their guests were from out of town, the couple wanted to give them an authentic Northwest experience with the locally sourced food, coffee and carefully curated décor that Herban Feast is known for. Anna, who co-owns the invitation design company Paper Moss, set the tone for the event with a custom-made invitation suite and wedding accessories, using just the right shade of emerald green—to represent the wedding’s Emerald City theme—with complementary hints of gold, blush and white, which tied the whole event together. “After years of helping to design invitations, it was surreal to work on my own,” says Anna, “and it was, hands down, my favorite part of the planning process.”
