Sarah and Josh met in college at Northwestern University. Little did they know that, years down the road, a beautiful surprise proposal—which took place on Sarah’s birthday and included a unexpected visit from her family—would lead to an unforgettable outdoor wedding, surrounded by family and friends. The bride, who works in luxury consignment sales, is originally from Ohio; and the groom, a neurosurgery resident at the University of Washington, is from Chicago. After relocating to Seattle, the couple embraced the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest as inspiration for their celebration. Letting that beauty play a lead role in the setting of their celebration and reception, the couple opted for a neutral color palette of black, white and subtle hints of pink and deep burgundy. Soft gray velvet linens welcomed the guests, beautifully draping the tent’s frame and covering the tables. The couple chose a traditional Jewish ceremony, honoring Judaic traditions in this testament to their love; a few weeks before the wedding, Sarah officially converted to Judaism to express her commitment to Josh. Close family and friends participated in the ceremony by reading excerpts aloud in both Hebrew and English during the traditional sheva brachot (“seven blessings”).
