TWO’S COMPANY: Washington natives Jean Kincaid and David Koewler first met as roommates in what they describe as a Three’s Company scenario, with their relationship evolving as they discovered a shared passion for spending time outdoors and building with Legos. David waited for the perfect moment to propose, even trying the ring on Jean’s finger while she slept, but in the end, the proposal came in the century-old home they have been remodeling together as Jean emerged from the shower to find David with a ring.
YOU’RE INVITED: The bride and groom personalized their wedding invitations for their guests by decorating them with vintage stamps, found at Crown Hill Coins Stamps and Collectibles, that matched their personality. Jean devoted hours to counting stamp denominations only to discover she needed to add $.20 to each envelope at the post office!
THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE: As a special treat for their guests, the couple planned for the Husky Marching Band to arrive and play at the moment of their ceremony’s conclusion. The band was such a hit, the couple have joked about recruiting it to announce all their future milestones. Jean and David also delighted their guests with the services of expert magician Nate Jester, The Ace of Illusions, during their cocktail hour.
A TOUCH OF WHIMSY: The couple infused fun into the wedding day with playful and personalized details, such as a yellow school bus that served as transportation for the pair and their wedding party. The groom made the impressive wood escort card wall himself, while the bride loaned her skills to creating the paper decor. Adorned with family and personal photos, the shelved wall at AXIS Pioneer Square even included a figurine of their beloved dog, Maeby, who got her very own floral garland to match the abundant florals and greenery festooning the reception tables and walls.
