THE PROPOSAL: Although content editor Soo Moon and entrepreneur Mark Won initially had chosen to forego the traditional engagement ring, Mark decided to surprise Soo with an official proposal and ring a week before their wedding at the same spot they had their first kiss exactly six years prior.
TRADITIONAL MAGIC: Soo and Mark’s minimal, no-fuss ceremony was followed up by a colorful Korean ceremony, in which the bride donned a traditional hanbok gown. The reception was a total party with bar decor that included the groom’s own Scotch and whiskey bottles as vases, and a garland in lieu of a net for the beer pong table (red Solo cups included, of course). Family friend and owner of the Papa Bois food truck created a delicious custom Caribbean menu to be shared family style. Then, the bride and her father shared their first (ever) dance to Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender” before guests danced the night away to old-school hip-hop.
